Overview

This E-certificate course is designed for Live Stock Assistant (LSA) and Para Veterinary Staff in veterinary hospitals and laboratories. The Government of India (Notification of BMW Rules, 2016) specified that Hospital Waste Management is a part of hospital hygiene and it involves the management of a range of activities, which are mainly collection, segregation, transportation, operation/treatment and disposal of biomedical waste. Hospital solid waste can contain significantly high concentrations of pathogenic organisms. Ten percent of hospital generated waste is infectious, which can be hazardous to the public.

Biomedical waste management plays a vital role in preventing outbreak of infectious diseases, protects the ecological system and the society from occurrence and transmission of these diseases, prevents occupational health hazards and improves the public health.

Objectives 

  1. To create awareness among health professionals and public for safe disposal of animal bio-medical waste
  2. To train different target groups of health professionals for collection, segregation, safe disposal and treatment of bio-medical waste to safeguard the life of themselves, whole society and the environment.
  3. To prevent transmission of disease from patient to patient, from patient to health worker and vice versa
